Connie Coste, age 74, died Thursday evening the 14th of July after an 11-month battle with Breast cancer. She was the loving mother of three, Nana of six, as well as a devoted wife.
Born on March 15th, 1948, in Fort Fairfield ME to Ken and Agnes Pelletier, she was one of five siblings. She is survived by her three sisters Terry, Judy and Robben and was predeceased by brother, Kenny. She spent much of her youth living on our beloved Moosehead Lake in Greenville ME. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Jackman ME. She moved to Lynn MA with her sister Judy and worked as a waitress for Caruso’s Pizza.
Lynn is where she met and married her husband, Ronald Coste. Connie is preceded in death by daughter Christina Coste and survived by her son Jonathon Coste of North Reading and daughter Marissa Coste of Lynn. She also leaves their families, Tracey Coste and Chris Martignetti as well as 6 grandchildren Asheton Cady (21) Samuel Martignetti (15) Alexis Coste (14), Jacoby Coste-Trufant (12), Nathaniel Coste-Trufant (11) and Madison Coste (10). She is also survived by many close friends, some that were more like family, such as Alice Tierney, Fran Webb, and Beverly Peterson.
Connie was an amazing, sometimes Mary Poppins-like childcare-giver. The daycare she started won state awards and some of her kiddos will remember her for the rest of their lives. Prior to her work in childcare, she was an elder adult caregiver. She always advocated fiercely for those in her care, and then held their hands as they passed. Connie was a lifelong lover of gardening and spent many years involved in Middleton’s Garden club. She was a Girl Scout leader to troops 148 and 137 and a den mother for Cub Scout pack 58. She had a large presence in many community-based events and groups and loved being a townie. Almost to the very end, she remained active in her community and was still a volunteer for Middleton’s Council on aging.
Connie will be missed by everyone she touched in life. She was a superhero Mother, a doting Nana, and an authentic and genuine Christian. She did everything with love and grace. Above all she loved with her whole heart and her whole soul. Her life had a great impact on all who were lucky enough to have her in theirs.
