Connie Susan (Hohensee) Zaugg, 67 of West Bend died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the West Bend Care Center.
Connie Hohensee was born April 17, 1950 in Laurens, IA to Donald and Eleanor (Schott) Hohensee. She graduated from Pocahontas Catholic School in 1968. Connie attended College of St. Mary’s in Omaha, then returned to Pocahontas and worked for Northwest Bell Telephone. On November 6, 1971, Connie married William Zaugg. The couple farmed in Mallard and had 3 children, Carolyn, Andy, and Katie. They moved to Ayrshire in 1981 where Connie worked at the Ruthven Community Care Center until 2003. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire and later became a member of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in West Bend. In 2005, Bill and Connie moved to West Bend where Connie enjoyed watching her grandchildren and worked at the local daycare until she retired. Connie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, as well as shopping in thrift stores and garage sales, cooking, baking, and playing cards. She had a special love for her time spent drinking coffee and spending time with her special friends every morning at The Villager Drug Store.
Survivors include her husband Bill of West Bend, children: Carolyn (Scott) Kenney of Ankeny, IA; Andrew (Jessica) Zaugg of Ankeny, IA; and Kathryn (Chad) Strohman of Spencer, IA; 8 grandchildren, mother Eleanor Hohensee, siblings: Charles Hohensee, Roger(Ellen) Hohensee, Renae Hohensee, Debby Eaton, Dean (Carole) Hohensee all of Pocahontas, sisters and brothers-in-law, Roger (Joyce)Zaugg of Jordan, MN; Marvella (Larry) Wickman of Emmetsburg, IA; Beth Zaugg of Portland, OR; 16 nieces and nephews and many extended family members. Connie was preceded in death by her father Donald and brother-in-law Darwin Eaton.
