Concetta “Connie” Gambino, age 97 and devoted wife of the late Carmine Gambino, died peacefully at the Greenwich Hospital on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Connie was born on February 11, 1913 in Salem, MA, daughter of the late Sebastiano and Salvatresa Buccheri, and was a former resident of Stamford, Darien, Norwalk and Greenwich. She enjoyed her work as a seamstress, loved reading, cooking, sewing and taking care of her family. Connie loved taking long walks at the beach with her husband, dancing and listening to music.
Survivors include a son, Leonard Gambino of Milford, 2 daughters, Jennie Vagnone and her husband Ralph of Norwalk and Josephine “Josie” Creigh of Greenwich, a sister Jennie Gambino of Stamford, 9 grandsons, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters Tessie Gallo and Lucy DiDia, and a brother, Dr. Paul Buccheri.
