Col. Edward Lynn Griffin, 73, of Odenton, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020. He was born June 14, 1946 at Fort Knox, Kentucky to the late Benjamin Winfield and Esther Free Griffin.

After graduating from Glen Burnie High School in 1964, Edward earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education, and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Towson State University, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education from Loyola College of Maryland. Edward began teaching for Anne Arundel County Public Schools in 1972 and retired after 31 years of dedicated service. In 1993, he completed requirements for the Maryland Space Grant Consortium, developing teacher resources with the Space Telescope Science Institute, Goddard Space Flight Center and Maryland Public Television.

Col. Griffin honorably served his country in the United States Army. A Vietnam veteran, he was a military instructor for the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He finished his military career working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in conjunction with the National Disaster Medical System and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He retired with the esteemed rank of Colonel in 2006 after 37 years of service.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol Jean; loving daughters, Tracee Jean Hodges and her husband, Howard, and Sarah Ruth Crosby and her husband, Christopher; and cherished grandsons, Zander and Jaxon Crosby.
