Coleman Clay, Jr., 59, of Galesburg went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 27, 2019.

Coleman was born April 15, 1960 in St. Louis, MO the son of Coleman and Luvinia (Owens) Clay, Sr. He married Lisa Clayton on August 3, 1994 in St. Louis, MO.  She survives. Coleman is also survived by five sons, Coleman Clay, III of Houston, TX, Michael Strawberry of St. Louis, MO, Cornell Clay of Galesburg, Clayton Clay of Galesburg, and Caleb Clay of Galesburg; one daughter, Sabrina Clay of Galesburg; as well as four grandchildren, Cornell Clay, Jr., Cataleya Clay, Maliya Clay, and Denzel Jones, Jr.

Coleman is also survived by one brother, Darryl (Chanty) Clay of St. Louis, MO; and two sisters, Karen Clay of St. Louis, MO and Cassandra Collins-Clay of St. Louis, MO.  Along with his parents, Coleman was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Clay. Coleman worked for Zales as a district supervisor for over 20 years and was currently working as a store manager for Helzberg Diamonds.

Coleman had many passions in life.  Selling jewelry, encouraging others, and uniting people were just a few. He was also passionate about the word of God.  He served as an Elder at his church, Community Temple-Church of God in Christ, where he also taught Sunday School.

Coleman was also very sentimental to other people, he never met a stranger, and befriended all he came in to contact with. He also enjoyed playing golf on occasion, as well as being a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Cardinals, and the San Antonio Spurs.
