Col. Daniel George Apostalon, Ret. USAF, age 88, born on August 19, 1928, passed to his eternal home on November 28, 2016.

Dan joined the Air Force on October 6, 1951. Among his many stellar honors while serving were the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation, and Presidential Unit Citation. In 1955, he met the love of his life, Cynthia, and they were married on November 13, 1955. During Dan’s military career, they lived in seven states and three foreign countries. Dan and Cynthia arrived in Albuquerque in May 1974 when he was stationed at Kirtland AFB. He retired after 30 years of service to his country, making Albuquerque their home, where he stayed active in business and finance endeavors. Dan will be fondly remembered for his generosity, story-telling, quirky sense of humor, love of learning, and protective and loving soul. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Dan was preceded in death by his father; mother; and older sister, Agnes. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cynthia; five children, Wendy Travis and husband, Randy, Damon Apostalon, Daniel J. Apostalon and wife, Kate, Randy Apostalon, and Mark Apostalon and wife, Radka; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Shaun, Andrea and husband, Daniel, Valerie, David, Alexis and husband, Andrew, Dominic, Anika, Yana, and Nicholas; two great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Shelby; his wonderful, wonderful, wonderful sister, Florence Davis; and four nephews, Jim and wife, Lois, Rees and wife, Barb, Chris, and Matt and wife, Christi, and their families.
