Cody Tyler Stake, age 36, died at home with his family on 01/03/22 after a long, courageous fight against Brain Cancer.

Born 10/06/1985 in Denver, Colorado, he was the adored husband of Megan and doting father to George. Cherished son of Teresa; grandson; nephew; adventurous brother, uncle and cousin; and an incredible friend to many.

Cody lived a life full of love, laughter, and lots of adventure and he will be remembered by many for his kind and caring nature, his contagious smile, and his inspirational speeches!

Cody had a passion for the outdoors – snowboarding, fishing and biking were amongst his favorite pursuits. Playing and watching sports were also a pastime of his, he was super competitive! He travelled the world, Megan by his side, and truly experienced everything each destination offered. Always stopping to enjoy the view!

Cody was a natural-born leader and always treated everyone he came across with kindness and empathy. He could find humor in the most mundane of life’s circumstances, turning lemons into lemonade on the daily.

After graduating from school Cody had a long career within the ski industry, working in Colorado and New Zealand. Although Keystone was the mountain he cherished most, Coronet Peak held a special place in his heart – he and Megan met here and created their beloved Queenstown family.

During Cody’s illness, he trained and became a Patrol Deputy for Summit County Sheriff’s office where he embraced his new role with rigour. He felt strongly that he wanted to serve his community and help others in need.
