Cody Logan Vardeman, 46 of Hobbs NM went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 24th with his family by his side. Cody is survived by his wife Jenny, his daughter Ranya, and his son Marlo, and his brothers-in-law; Lonnie Byram, Michael Byram and Nephew Hap Byram.

Cody is also survived by his parents Steve & Sylvia Alves and Hap & Vicki Vardeman and his “Moppa”, Martha McFarland. His sisters; Shari & Jamey Shipler, Nivea & Adrian Muro and one brother Dennis Raines. His three nieces, Shelby, Nikki, and Sarah, and his two Nephews; Derek and Brandon.

Cody proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps from 1994 – 1999 obtaining the rank of Sargent at the time of his Honorable Discharge.

Cody then went on to become a Police Officer with the Lovington Police Department on August 7, 1999 thru June 2001, and again in November, 2003 thru 2005, where during that time he completed the Police Academy on May 15, 2000 at the New Mexico Junior College and was “Valedictorian” of his class.

On October 11, 2004 while working with the Lovington Police Department he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of protecting the President of the United States George W. Bush when the President had stopped in Hobbs, NM on his Campaign Trail for re-election.

Cody then joined the Lea County Sheriff’s Department in October 2001 thru July 2003, and again in October 2005 thru June 2008 working alongside his dad, Hap Vardeman, for many years.

Cody was passionate about serving his country and working in law enforcement.

Cody loved his Wife, Jenny deeply, and his sweet daughter Ranya and his little

 “ Mini-Me”, Marlo. They were his life and great joy!

A special thanks to all those who were praying for our Cody, your prayers meant so much to us and to Michelle, you saved his life twice. We will not forget all that you did for Cody. He will be missed by his family and friends.
