Cobern Dale Fannin of Forest Hills Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, prominent business owner, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at his residence.

Born November 16, 1936, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thurman and Eva Howard Fannin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd and Robert Fannin. His wife, Lynda Fulton Fannin, passed away August 16, 1990.

Cobern is survived by two daughters, Crissy Fannin Cunningham and husband Chase and Hope Fannin, all of Morehead, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, April Smith of Morehead, Kentucky, and Heather Prater of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; four step grandchildren; his sister-in-law and special friend Martha and his mother-in-law, Ruth Fulton.

Other survivors include two brothers, Clettis Fannin and James Fannin, both of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Janet Fraley, Brenda Sheets, and Rita Griffith, all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Ruth Flora, Roberta Eubanks, and Eda Vice, all of Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Cobern served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-60 and graduated from Morehead State University in 1969. He was the owner of Fannin-s Ashland, Fannin-s Econo Cleaners, Cobe-s Rentals and Sales, and Cobe-s Fishing Lake. He enjoyed watching U.K. basketball and NASCAR and loved taking care of his Yorkies.
