Clyde Smith, 73, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, in LaPorte, Indiana. Clyde was born June 20, 1931, in Cottonwood Point, Missouri to Robert and Sally (Morgan) Smith.

He moved to Michigan in 1943. On June 10, 1957, he married Barbara Krossovitch in Three Oaks. He was employed by Manley Brothers Sand Company in Bridgman, Michigan for 38 years and was instrumental in unionizing the company. He was a member of Teamsters Local # 398, Michigan City, Indiana, and had served as a union steward. Clyde enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin at Bitely, Michigan. He also spent time outdoors tending to his vegetable garden. Clyde liked to play Euchre, watch western movies, videotape family and friends with his camera, and he loved to read. The most important thing to Clyde was his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Debbie (Gary) Sharp, Michigan City, Indiana; Curt (MaryAnn) Smith, Three Oaks; Sandy Smith, of Three Oaks; Lori (Glen) Pastryk of Glendora, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jaime, Wyatt, Seth, Kaitlin, Sam, Christopher, Lana, Adam, Ashley, Allie, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Alexander; his sister, Peggy Johnson of San Pierre, Indiana and brothers, E. J. Smith of Nixa, Missouri and Robert “Ted” Smith of Troy, Missouri. His brothers, Archie and Ralph preceded him in death.
