Clyde “Shawn” Shreeve, Jr., 36, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 while on duty for Guardian Air Medical Transport. He was born on January 4, 1972. He grew up in Flagstaff, where he graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1990.
He attended the University of Arizona and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing Management. Shortly after graduating, he discovered his passion for helping others and went back to school to obtain his EMT certification. He began working with Guardian Medical Transport as an EMT but continued to expand his education in emergency medicine. He obtained his I-EMT and then his paramedic. His dream, however, was to work as a flight paramedic, and soon realized his dream when he was offered a position with Guardian Air. Shortly after he knew he wanted to go further in the medical field and obtained his Associate’s degree in Nursing. He worked for a short time in the intensive care unit at Flagstaff Medical Center but then returned to his dream of flying at Guardian Air. Shortly after his return, he was transitioned from a flight paramedic to a flight nurse/paramedic, of which he was most proud. Shawn’s dream was always to be a flight nurse and he loved every minute of his job. He had a great sense of humor and always made others smile.
