Clyde R. Durrance, 98
Okeechobee – Clyde R. Durrance passed away on March 22, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Okeechobee, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. He loved the community and served as County Commissioner for four terms. He may also be remembered for the many years he drove a school bus.
He had many occupations. He was a cattle rancher and had a commercial hay operation. He built and ran the Brahma Burger Drive-in Restaurant. He owned and operated the Jiffy convenience store. He built Town ‘n Country Mobile Home Park and made many friends during the 44 years he owned the park.
His favorite pastime was quail hunting and he spent many hours watching his bird dogs hunt.
Mr. Durrance was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Harvey Durrance, and his daughter, Patricia Durrance.
He is survived by his son, Roland Durrance (Lynda); daughter, Rosa Butler (R.D.); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
