Clyde Zielke
ROCKLEDGE, FL –
Clyde Raymond Zielke, 76, formerly of Rockledge, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice House in Rockledge, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte, and their children David, Redondo Beach, CA; Robert, Titusville, FL and his sister Bernice Morris of Albuquerque, NM. He is predeceased by his sisters Barbara Schiermeier and Betty Zielke, and parents Ed and Helen Zielke of Wichita KS.
His passion for the manned space flight program wove a consistent theme through out his distinguished career, first as a Captain in the United States Air Force serving at Vandenberg Air Force Base developing next generation rocket propulsion and control technologies and then following the development of manned space flight including the Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle Programs.
While manned space flight was his passion, he found time for his gardening, boating, classic cars, and especially enjoyed time relaxing with his wife Charlotte and their pets watching the ever changing scenery of the Indian River from their home. He was a seasoned mentor of his friends, co-workers, and especially his children who follow in his engineering footsteps within the United States space programs and defense technologies. His advice, support, and guidance will be truly missed by those who knew him.
