Clyde Phillips, Jr., age 79, of Liberty Ave., Grafton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2012, after losing a battle to cancer. He was born October 15, 1932, in Kasson, Barbour County, a son of the late Clyde Phillips, Sr. and Mable (Skidmore) Phillips Ekis. His beloved wife of 45 years, Mary F. (McVicker) Phillips, survives. Clyde was a retired independent trucker, having owned his own rig for forty five years. He was last leased to W.S. Thomas Transfer in Fairmont. Clyde received several recognitions for safe driving. In October 1998, he was awarded WV driver of te month by WV truckers association.He was also the owner of the Grafton Taxi Company from 1963 to 1971. He enjoyed attending car shows and his classic vehicles. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and was a faithful member of the Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by: one daughter, Angela Bolliger, of Grafton; two grandchildren, Sean Knotts and Olivia Bolliger, of Grafton; one brother, James Ekis, of Grafton; and one sister, Susie Ekis Mewshaw, of Illinois. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Ekis.
