Clyde Pettigrew, Jr. finished his course of life on April 8, 2016, after 79 years of faithfully doing his best as a father, a dependable businessman, and a loyal friend to all. He was born in Palmetto, Georgia, and was one of four children born to the late Clyde Elice Pettigrew, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Cole Pettigrew.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Syble Pettigrew. His love for his country led him to enlist in the United States Navy in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1958. Clyde was a man for whom problem-solving seemed a gift. This was a valuable asset in his career as a building contractor. He was just as at home with carpentry tools in his hands as he was in the driver’s seat of earthmoving equipment. Many construction projects in Coweta County benefitted from his considerable skill set. A natural outdoorsman, he found great pleasure in his bird dogs and his beehives. Nothing could hold his attention more, though, than to wet a hook in the water searching for that elusive biggest catch ever. To say he loved fishing would be an understatement. Trips to Florida were a high priority on his list in pursuit of that hobby. All that being said, Clyde was a man who deeply loved his family. To hear someone say “Granddaddy” or “Papa Clyde” was music to his ears and any expressed wish quickly became his command for action. These wonderful traits will be lovingly recalled by his children Randy C. (Terri) Pettigrew, Pamela P. (Mark) Teague, Mike A. (Tracy) Pettigrew, and T. Scott (Tonya) Pettigrew.

He was a loving grandfather to Tori P. (Casey) Negley, Valerie L. Pettigrew, Andrew J. Pettigrew, Abby P. (Jordan) Gibbs, Justin Autry, Zach Pettigrew, Tim B.(Hope) Pettigrew, Chasity M. Pettigrew, Justin S. Pettigrew, Kayla J. Curl, H. Ross Teague, and Kaycee L. Teague. There are five great-grandchildren. Two of his siblings, Rebecca Smith and Mae Sibley also survive.
