Clyde Chester -Shorty- Drake, age 74, of Wallingford, Kentucky, surrounded by loved ones, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, at his residence after battling a long-term illness for many years.
Shorty was born March 3, 1936, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Bill and Zola Roberts Drake. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl, John, and Roy Drake and two sons, Vernon Chester Drake and Richard Wayne Drake, both of Wallingford.
Shorty is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine Ann Roth Drake; two sons: Henry (Sandy) Drake of Wallingford, Glenn (Trish) Drake of Versailles; four daughters: Varline (Greg) Crum of Morehead, Tiline (Terry) Tackett of Wallingford, Brigitte (Virgil) Preston of Nicholasville and Maryann (David) Gavin of Wallingford.
In addition, he is survived by 14 grandchildren: Shaune (Amanda) Drake of Wallingford, Tonya Drake of Wallingford, Vanessa Drake of Flemingsburg, Bobby Joe Brown of Olive Hill, David Brown of Morehead, Greg Crum of Morehead, Brian (Vanessa) Crum of Morehead, Steven Harn and Ashley, Brianna and Albert Preston of Nicholasville, Bradley Gavin of Chesapeake, Virginia, Sabian and Blaise Gavin of Wallingford, as well as 14 great grandchildren.
