Clyde Beal Thayn passed away September 1, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 22, 1949, to Wilford Wallace Thayn and Beth Beal Thayn. He is survived by his siblings Anne Thornock and Steven (Sherry) Thayn of Emmett , Idaho, Susan (Scott) Bean of South Jordan, Utah, and Faye (Ron) Fife of Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by his wife, Carolyn Dutson Thayn, his children Kevin (Marla) Chandler, Tara (Benjamin) Little Bear, Elden (Tami) Chandler, Andrea Griffin, Erin (Jayne Ann) Thayn, Austin Thayn, Quentin (Trisha) Thayn, Maresa (Jesse) Youngberg, and 28 grandchildren.
Clyde married Carolyn on July 15, 1974. They were married for 43 years.
He attended BYU and Oregon Technical Institute where he majored in diesel technology. He started his career as a John Deere mechanic and continued in his own tractor repair shop as well as custom haying with his brother.
Clyde had an intelligent mind, keen understanding and a love of learning. He also found joy in teaching those he loved. He and Carolyn homeschooled their children. He loved classical music, restoring antique tractors, and building “putter jugs” with his children and grandchildren with odd parts from his shop.
He was well known for his goodness, wisdom, kindness, and patience.
Those who love him are just beginning to understand the many quiet ways he served. This gentle giant will be missed and long remembered.
