Clyde Alma Byrd Potter, 98, of 118 Greyson Street, Martinsville, VA died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Martinsville, VA. She was born on November 24, 1911 in Franklin County, VA to the late Samuel William Byrd and Mary Jane Bowles Byrd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Potter; sister, Nora Brodie; brothers, Gordon Byrd and Leonard Byrd; great-grandson, Nicholas Gray Haggas and son-in-law, Henry Dalton. Mrs. Potter was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church. She was one of the first employee’s of Lacy Manufacturing Company and retired as a seamstress. Surviving are her daughters, Marie Potter Dalton of Danville, VA and Mary Frances Gibbs of Collinsville, VA; five grandchildren, Barry W. Dalton and wife, Linda of Danville, VA, Scott Dalton and wife, June of Cookeville, TN, Lori Gibbs Reichart and husband, Brian of Cummings, GA, Julie Gibbs France and husband, Tony of Denver, NC and Mitzi Gibbs Haggas and husband, Josh of Huntersville, NC and eight great-grandchildren, William Tyler Dalton, Amanda Lauren Dalton, Taylor France, Morgan France, Kaitlyn Reichart, Emily Reichart, Reagan Haggas and Riley Haggas.
