Clifton Louis Marcev, Sr., 90 years old, departed this world on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 10:25 A.M.  Mr. Marcev was the beloved husband of the late Katie B. Marcev, father of Clifton L., Jr., Bruce P. and John R. Marcev, brother of the late John P. Marcev, Hilliard P. Marcev and Lillian M. (Marcev) Nunez, son of the late John P. Marcev and Lillian M. (Frenulich) Marcev, grandfather of Jessica, Katie, Luke, Marisa, Nathan, Aaron and Andrew Marcev.  Mr. Marcev was a native of New Orleans, LA for 68 years and a resident of Slidell, LA for the past 22 years.

Mr. Marcev was a WWII veteran, serving as a submarine cook.  He continued cooking and serving delicious food by operating the Marble Hall Branch Restaurant on Rampart Street in New Orleans for several years after an honorable discharge from the United States Navy in May 1946. When the Marble Hall closed, Mr. Marcev joined the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad and was a valued employee for 30 years.  Mr. Marcev also intermittently worked “second” jobs to support his family by serving as mixologist at the New Orleans Athletic Club and professional oyster opener at The Pearl Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans.  Mr. Marcev was a devout Catholic and spent significant hours with his wife, Katie, during the active portion of their retired life, serving students and worshiping at the University of New Orleans Catholic Newman Center alongside Father Francis Berner.
