Clifton Ivory Sanborn, better known as Cliff, 81, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away on January 16, 2019.
Cliff was born in Rochester, NH on August 12, 1937, to Ivory and Dorothy Sanborn, and was the beloved stepson to the late Olive Sanborn. He lived in Vernon, CT for 27 years before moving to Florida 5 years ago. Cliff served as a fireman for 30 years, most of which was for the Town of Manchester prior to his retiring.
He enjoyed cross-stitching, playing Pogo games, doing puzzles, tinkering with models, playing cards, and loved to hunt and fishing. Cliff was a lifetime member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club in Vernon Ct. He served as the club’s treasurer for several years and was honored as Man of the Year in 1988.
Cliff was the beloved husband of Lorraine for the last 61 years; loving father of Cherry Barnett (Gerald), the late Tammy Sanborn, and Gail Bailey (Michael); dear brother of Robert, the late David, the late Ivory, and Carole Sanborn; brother in law to Margaret Sanborn, Richard Couture, Pauline Ross; Stepbrother to Roland Nadeau (Linda) Connie Upton and Patty Gagnon (Clem), adored grandfather of John Griffin II (Lisa), Carrie Stipp (Michael), Paul Starkweather, Niki Sanborn, Jessica Rideout, and the late Robynlyn Starkweather; cherished great grandfather of John, Jordan, Michael, Noah, Brett, Sophia, Jamie, and Zia; Uncle to several Nieces and Nephews and loving friend of many. He also leaves his beloved little furry sidekick GiGi.
