DURHAM Mr. Clifford Newton Durham, 91, a former resident of Durham, died on Friday, September 16, 2011. He was living in Croatan Ridge Nusing Home in Newport N.C. He was the son of the late Dessie Columbus Durham and Alma Smith Durham. He served in the U. S. Army and was an Independence Truck and Tractor operator. He was a member of Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jessie Durham and two sisters, Bertha Cochran and Mae is survived by his wife, Sarah Boswell Durham; one daughter, Elaine Johnson and husband, Elwood; two brothers, D. C. Durham of Eden and Other Durham of Douglasville, Ga.; one sister, Thelma Clark of Alabama; grandchildren April M. Johnson, Renne M. Pierce, Betty Johnson and a great-grandchild, Emma Pierce.
