Clifford Guy Gillespie, 75, of Stevens Drive in Salisbury, formerly of Spruce Pine, died on November 14, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Born in Yancey County on December 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Jess and Tennie Buchanan Gillespie.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty eight years, Wilma Burleson Gillespie, who died July 15, 2011. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jessie; brother, Arthur Mack Gillespie; sisters, Alta “Bugs” Pitman, Daphne Forbes, Marcel Hughes, Janette Kates.
Mr. Clifford Gillespie is survived by sons, Charles “Chuck” Butner (Debbie), Clifford “Dewayne” Gillespie (Angela) of Salisbury; a daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Hester of Salisbury; a brother, Charlie Gillespie of Salisbury; a sister, Mildred Dellinger of Spruce Pine; family friend, Ahmad (Don) Hashemzadeh of the home. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Brandon Butner, Jessica Hester Smith (Adam), Payton Gillespie, Courtney Gillespie and Morgan Pepper; and three great-grandchildren, Averi Blevins, Kaydence Butner and Raygan Hagler.
