Clifford Dolph Davenport, 93, of Anderson, passed away on September 24, 2012 at the Bethany Pointe Health Campus.
He was born on December 12, 1918 in Perry, Utah to John Edward Davenport and Della Rae Newcomb Davenport. As a young man, he was very interested in sports, played semi-pro baseball in Alemeda, CA. He also loved boxing and boxed in the Golden Gloves and also in the US Navy stationed in Fort Pierce, FL and never lost a fight! In 1940 he married Joy Gay Brunker in Linton, IN and had four children: Larry Thaine Maria Monroy, Sue Ellen died as an infant, JoEtta Smith and Clifford Monte June Craig. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1976 after working for 34 years. He spent many years living in Zephyrhills, FL, moving back to Anderson in 2010 and spent his remaining years here. Clifford is survived by his loving spouse, children, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, four brothers and granddaughter, Alicia Davenport.
