Cleveland Sylvester Boutwell, Jr., age 78 of Newnan, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born July 2, 1940 in Macon, GA to the late Cleveland Sylvester Boutwell, Sr. and Idalou Boutwell. Cleve, as he was known to his friends and family, achieved Eagle Scout and graduated in 1963 from Georgia Tech with a Civil Engineering degree. After graduating he served his country in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees. He was married to Linda Tuggle Boutwell and they adopted two children in Germany while Cleve was serving in the Navy in Naples, Italy in 1966 and 1967. After his time in the Navy, Cleve started Boutwell & Assoc. an engineering/surveying firm. In 1977, he was hired as Director of Franchise Development with Days Inn Corporation. In 1984, Cleve restarted his engineering/surveying firm as Boutwell Engineering. In 1989, Cleve married Kathy Lain, eventually they moved to Jasper, GA and have been married for 29 years. Cleve served as Jasper Rotary President 2005-2006 and continued Boutwell Engineering, Inc. until January 2018. The memorial service celebrating the life of Cleve is Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2 PM at Newnan First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville Street, in Newnan with Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Boutwell; children, David Boutwell, Karen Webb; step-daughters, Heather (Rob) Stapleton, Heidi (Tim) Boutwell; 10 grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Sandra) Boutwell of Newnan and sister, Beverly House of Fayettville, AR.
