Mr. Cleveland Jones, 65, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2:58 am.
Loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Cleveland was born in Forest City, AR on May 2, 1954 to the late George and Fannie Mae (Shelton) Jones. He later married Karen Kay Bynum in Elkhart on May 2, 1978. She survives at home after 41 wonderful years together.
Also surviving to cherish his memory are his children Danny (Jameliah Collins) Bynum, Cleveland (Candy Sims) Jones, II and Kleasha Jones; brothers George “Peewee” Dorris and Allen Warren; sisters Bertha Cook, Rosie Sadler and Shelia Napier; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way! He is also survived by a loving host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Cleveland in death are children Tanishella and Cleopatra Jones and Antwain Hence and siblings Mable Wiley, Diane McKinney, Janice Banks, David Lee, Samuel “Bo”, “Lil” George, Tommy and Theodis Jones and Robert Bradford.
Cleveland was working at Poly Electronics of Elkhart at the time of his passing. Friendly and outgoing, Cleveland will be best remembered for his love of family and friends and his ever- present desire to reach out to those in need. He loved to barbecue and entertain and was a devout fan of LeBron James and the Lakers. He was also a former bassist for various local bands during his younger years and loved the works of Al Green, James Brown and Barry White among others. He was a US Navy veteran and served as a carrier flight deck technician.
