Cleveland attended Saint Saviours Primary School in Barbados and at age 11, in 1967, he migrated to New York City to live with his step-mother, Cynthia and his father in Brooklyn. He attended school at PS 91 Winthrop JHS and John Jay High School.
Cleveland never married and had no children. He was a hard-working and helpful man, concerned about others. He was loving and affectionate, supportive and always ready to get his hands dirty.
“Clevey” as he was fondly called, was an outgoing, and organized person. He dressed immaculately and had an eye for fashion. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, and worked in the construction field. He was an impeccable painter, who painted homes of family and friends.
His landlord, Ms. Ruby, praised Cleveland’s loving care for his girlfriend during her battle with cancer, as well his generosity and assistance in looking after the property where he lived.
During his fifties, Cleveland developed heart problems, had a pace-maker implanted.
He succumbed to natural causes at Bellevue Hospital on October 30th, 2020.
