He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive P.B. Church. He attended Tennessee Valley High School, and he recieved a Certificate in Auto Mechanics.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Lavett Owens and Pamela Owens of Knoxville, TN and Cassandra Kellogg of Memphis, TN; four sisters, Mattie (Johnnie) Simpson, Alma Boyd and Diane (Larry) Garner all of Hillsboro, AL and Sabrina (Tyrone) Taylor of Decatur; four brothers, Mayor Charles (Eva) Owens of Hillsboro, AL, Nathan Owens of Decatur, Hayward Owens of Harvest, AL and Marlon (Marsha) Hood of Decatur; three aunts, Mrs. Susie Brown, Mrs. Lousie Jones and Mrs. Sallie Swoope all of Hillsboro, AL, wonderful grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and special friends.
