Cleo Mae Onstank, the daughter of Coy Marion and Audna Fern (Lewis) Shelton, was born July 15, 1929 in Newton, IA. She attended Newton Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1947. She went on to attend the American Institute of Business.
Cleo married William Glenn Onstank on March 31, 1956 in Newton. They were blessed with a son, Michael. Cleo worked in accounting and bookkeeping in the Advertising Department at the Maytag Company.
Cleo died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton. She was 79. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 1992; and her sisters, Mildred Markman and Roberta White.
Those left to honor Cleo’s memory include her son, Michael Lane Onstank of Newton; nieces, Betty Jane (Almer) Coulthard of Kellogg and Karen (Gerald) VandeKamp of Kellogg; her great nieces, Fay Ruth Coulthard of Kellogg and Connie Jo (Brian) Miller of Searsboro; and three great-great nieces.
