Clayton J. Atwood, 80, of Chaplin, husband of Barbara (Tardie) Atwood, died peacefully Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Willimantic, CT, the son of the late Clayton T. and Winifred (Greene) Atwood. Clayton was a graduate of Windham High School. After High School, he joined the United States Marine Corp. Clayton was an automotive racer from 1960 to 1970. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid birdwatcher. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Clayton is survived by two children, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister.
