Survived by his wife Ella of 59 years; his sons, David and wife Connie, Bruce and his wife Becky, daughter, LaVonne and husband Jim, his sister, Yvonne Barton and husband, Arthur. He has 9 grand-children, 5 great grand-children and 1 great- great grand-child.
Clayton served in the US Army during the Korean War. After returning he was an officer with the AZ Highway Patrol and Liquor Patrol. While serving with the Patrol he earned his Masters degree at ASU and began teaching science classes at Phoenix Union High School. He started teaching and coaching girls and boys basketball at Carl Hayden High School. He volunteered as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years.
