Claudine Plunkett Bratton

December 17, 1924 – August 28, 2007

Mary Claudine Plunkett Bratton, of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born on December 17, 1924, in the Crossroads Community in Grant County. Claudine was the daughter of the late Houston Eugene Plunkett and Florence Mitchell Plunkett. She died at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 28, 2007, at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll David Bratton.    Mrs. Bratton cherished her faith, family and friends, always finding “room for one more” both in her home and in her heart. She was a devoted wife and mother, adoring grandmother and caring friend. A graduate of Sheridan High School, she valued education highly and instilled a love of learning in her family. She was a dedicated member of the Sheridan First United Methodist Church, a long-time participant in the United Methodist Women and Friendship Sunday School Class, and an enthusiastic supporter of the church’s recent expansion. She modeled her faith in both word and deed, combining compassion, kindness, quiet strength and a servant’s heart.    Mrs. Bratton’s greatest joy and commitment was to her family. Survivors include her sister, Catherine McPherson and husband Odell of North Little Rock; a son, Donald Bratton and wife Marilyn of Edgemont; four daughters, Nancy Jones and husband Ross of Little Rock; Joan Pierce and husband Bobby of Sheridan; Cathy Leflar of Rogers; and Jan Jewell and husband Joe of Pittsburg, Texas. ‘Gran’ is also survived by 17 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
