Claudia Price, age 92 of Siler City, NC resident of Fort Washington, MD passed on Tuesday, March 27 , 2018.
Claudia Headen Price was born in Siler City, North Carolina on September 23, 1925 to the late Sandy Headen and Minnie Beal. She was one of 11 children being the oldest of the sisters.
After college, Claudia moved to Washington, DC, where she worked at the Pentagon. She married Jerry Price of SIler City. He was affectionately known as “JP”. Of this marriage, no children were born. They moved to Los Angeles, California where she spent many years. She was employed in the public school system where she took pride in educating second and third graders who came her way. She retired after 40 years of teaching in the school system. She enjoyed watching and going to the Laker’s basketball games.
in Los Angeles, she was a faithful member of the First A.M.E Zion Church. She was an active member giving her service to the Deaconess Board, Stewart Board, Sunday School teacher, Church Women United and the Lay Council. She was President of the Missionary Society.
After a few years of retirement, she returned to Washington, DC and finally settled in Fort Washington, Maryland, where she re-joined John Wesley A.M.E Zion church, where she continued in being a faithful member continued in serving on and in the many church organizations. She maintained a productive life in her church John Wesley, her sorority Tau Gamma Delta, traveling and family activities. While here, she became a Washington Redskin fan. She enjoyed friendly competition with rival family and friends of the Dallas Cowboy team.
Claudia was a very strong, determined and loving woman. She was a social network all in her own right. When she met you, she wanted to know everything about you and was sure to keep in touch with you forever. Her conversations were long and detailed. She was generous and her greatest joy derived from acts and thoughts of caring for her family and helping those in need. She found strength in being a servant of the Lord.
Claudia leaves to cherish her loving memory: sisters Corina, Merciedee and adopted sister, Dr. Julia P. Marshall; devoted and loving great nephew, David Durham; many nieces, nephews and cousins; God-children, friends and extended family.
