Claude “Zeke” Haven Fye, Jr., 92, of Hellertown, born January 27, 1926, to Claude Sr. and Katherine (Simmons), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in his home surrounded by loved ones. He left behind his beautifully strong wife, Connie (Gradwohl), with whom he just celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Raised in Bethlehem, he was nicknamed ‘Hymer’ by his Mother and 11 siblings. He bravely served his country, in World War II, from 1944-1946. He was a longtime member of the Hellertown American Legion. He retired after 37 years with the Lehigh Valley Railroad and Conrail. In his free time he enjoyed volunteering for Hellertown/Lower Saucon Youth Sports, providing maintenance and grounds care, and working on cars on the weekends.
The family would like to thank and recognize the many caretakers and companions that kept him comfortable and content over the years. Zeke’s body gave out long before his soul did and he was robbed of the independence of enjoying all the things he loved. However, he remained in the comfort of his own home thanks to his round-the-clock caregiver and selfless wife, Connie. To everyone else who made an impact on Zeke’s life – we thank you greatly.
SURVIVORS: In addition to his loving wife Connie; son Gregory, and his wife Jojo and their children Nikki (Christian) and Tanner (Ali); son Jeffrey, and his fiancée Maggie, Jeff’s sons Michael (Samantha) and Tyler, and Maggie’s son Jake.
