Salem Claude Edward Taylor, 81, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at United Hospital Center. He was born March 11, 1930 in Akron, OH, son of the late Hamilton George Taylor and Laura Walker Taylor. He was married to Helen Beverlin Taylor who preceded him in death June 4,2003.Also predeceasing him were three sons, Rodney Taylor, James Taylor, and Gary Ferrell and a sister Mary Pitts. Surviving are sons, Claude Edward Taylor,Jr. with whom he resided in Bridgeport, Richard Ferrell and wife Helen of Folsom, WV and David Ferrell and wife Debbie, daughters, Deborah Harden and husband James of Pomfret, MD, and Sandra Ash and husband Junior of the Eastern Shore; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, John Taylor of Bowie, MD, two sisters, Virginia Cleavenger and Pricilla (Trish) Carter both of Salem. Mr. Taylor was employed as a glass maker for many years in WV but moved to Maryland in 1970 and was supervisor of a warehouse for Cleavenger Corporation, a building supply company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and doing puzzles. He was Baptist by faith.
