The Rev. Claude A. Curry, 83 years, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday evening, January 8, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born December 22, 1924 in Jacksonville, IL; the son of Claude and Estelle Covey Curry. He married Betty Palmer and Georgia Haley and they both preceded in death. He married Sue Noe on August 10, 2000 in Jacksonville, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by three step sons, Eric Noe (wife, Rhonda) of Jacksonville, John Curry of Missouri, and Mickey Curry of Bloomington; a step daughter, Gloria Haley of Jacksonville; and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rev. Curry was a 1975 graduate of Sangamon State University in Springfield and attended seminary in the Chicago area. He served as a United Methodist pastor in several area parishes including Hull, Hillview, and Waverly. He was affiliated with the Arenzville United Methodist Church. He served with the US Army from 1943 to 1953 and later served in the US Navy reserves from 1954 to 1969. An avid trapshooter, he was a member of the Jacksonville Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed reading and watching John Wayne movies.
