Classie Johnson Traylor was born on August 27, 1930, to the late Anthony and Rachel Johnson in Yantley, Alabama. She was blessed to be the oldest of seven siblings.
She met and married the late Marzine Traylor in 1948. Of this union, three children were born: Minnie, Ruby, and Willie (WC). Her motherly instinct was strong as she played a huge part in raising her younger siblings as well as her own.
Classie moved to Miami, Florida in 1958 with her family. She joined First Baptist Church Of Brownsville, where she actively and faithfully served on the Pastors Aid Board, President of the Mothers Board, Mission and other church auxiliaries. Classie was employed by Geomo Dress Factory in Hialeah, FL where she sharpened her skills as a seamstress until the factory closed. Being a self-taught seamstress, Classie brought her business home where she worked day and night making countless dresses, church robes, men and women suits, prom dresses, etc… to provide for her family. She is a member of the Athalie Range Order Of The Eastern Star #145, where she served for over 30 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories – Daughter Ruby Sheftall (Leroy); Sister Ruthie Dean, Brother Robert Johnson; Grandchildren – Jerry Green (Latonya), Deverick Sheftall (Monica), Kendrick Horn and Kimberly Tanks (Cedric); Great-Grandchildren – Lakeisha Johnson, Ebony Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Shanell Green, Mike Daniels, Brianna Williams, Cedric Tanks Jr., Harmony R. Sheftall, Kamari Tanks, Stella G. Sheftall, Diamond Green, Jerry Green Jr. and ten Great-Great Grandchildren that she deeply cherished. God Son’s – Johnny Pierce and Peter Pierce; God Daughter – Yolanda Westbrook; Special Nephew – Lamar Ruffin, Special Nieces – Lori Mitchell and Deborah Via; Special Cousins – Sean Johnson and Johnny Johnson; Special Family Additions – Robbie Cunningham, Chloe Cunningham, Robin Reynolds, Alfreda Jackson, and her two loving children; her long-time close friend Ms. Elizabeth White and a host of loving nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Ann Ruffin, Lela Pope, Thomas Johnson, and Virine Johnson and her two children Minnie T. Horn and W. C. Traylor.
