Clark Greife, 61, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his residence following a 14 month battle with head and neck cancer.
He was born July 19, 1949 in Springfield, IL; the son of Richard A. and Corrine Clark Greife. He married Teresa Knapp Rust on October 31, 2010 in Jacksonville and she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark Anthony Greife.
He is survived by his dogs, Rastus and Liberty; his cats, Chester and Adel; and his close friends, Alan Rudd of Afton, MN, George Glass of New Auburn, WI, and Randy Rust of Jacksonville.
Clark attended Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO and graduated from University High School in Columbia, MO. He attended junior college at Wentworth Military Academy and College in Lexington, MO. He was employed at the Walgreen’s store in Jacksonville prior to relocating to New Auburn, WI where he owned and operated Clark’s Resort and Campground for 28 years, retiring in 2003. In his retirement he drove a truck for Werner Transportation and worked as a bundle hauler for the Jacksonville Journal-Courier.
Clark was saved and baptized in 2009 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, boats, and cars. He was a blessing and inspiration to all who knew him and never complained about his illness. He was a loving husband and the best friend anyone could have. There are not adequate words to express how he will be missed by his wife, his pets, and his friends.
