Clarice Imogene (Carson) Nance, age 99, died October 8, 2010. She resided on the family farm near Arcadia, IN for 65 years. She was born at Atlanta, IN on April 30, 1911 to Walter and Pearl (Noble) Carson. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School in 1929. She was married to Lester Nance for 67 years. He preceded her in death December 9, 2001.
Imogene was a farmer’s wife who assisted her husband and children in raising, breeding and showing purebred hogs and Treeing Walker Coonhounds. Their family showed hogs at the Indiana State Fair for 50 years. Imogene served as secretary of the Indiana State Yorkshire Association and was active with the Indiana Pork Producers Association, 4-H Programs, the Republican Party, the Hamilton County Craft Club, and the Walnut Grove Extension Homemakers Club. She was a Past President of the Hamilton County Extension Homemakers Club. She had worked at the Tipton Tribune and as an educational assistant at Walnut Grove Junior High School.
