Grandma Clarie, one of the sweetest women you have ever met, died on August 26, 2016. She was beloved in the hearts of her family, friends, and caregivers.
Clarie was born to Mil and Chet Dunagan on February 4, 1921 in Wilder, Idaho. She married Louie Bideganeta and raised four children in Boise. Her days were spent packing lunches, preparing meals, and baking incredible cakes, pies and homemade caramels. Coming home from school to the scent of these treats was a special time of day.
A few years after Louie’s death in 1968, Clarie married her high school beau, John Batt. For 39 years they led a wonderful, adventurous life together, hunting grouse, fishing for steelhead, chasing pheasants, having weenie roasts and traveling in their motor home. John and Clarie spoiled their grandchildren with similar outdoor adventures. Later in life, they realized their dream of building Riverbend Golf Course in Wilder.
Clarie is lovingly remembered by her four children: Chris LaRocco (Larry), Cathie Bideganeta, Michael Bideganeta (Debbie), and Joe Bideganeta (Val), and John’s children Terry Batt (Peter) and David Batt (Lorna). She was a fun-loving grandmother and great-grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her brother Lew Dunagan (Judy) of Fort Worth and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brothers-in-law John Bideganeta of Mountain Home and Phil Batt of Boise always remained a part of her life.
An outdoor celebration of Clarie’s beautiful life was held August 30. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews spoke in glowing terms of growing up in the warmth of her kitchen and her loving arms.
Clarie’s family is grateful to the devoted nurses and caregivers at the Owyhee Care Center at Meadow Lake Village in Meridian.
