Clarence Sye Chapman, 88, of Peru, formerly of Utica, passed away, Monday morning, August 1, 2011 at Manor Court in Peru.
Mr. Chapman was born on January 26, 1923 in LaSalle to Merle and Freida (Gielow) Chapman. He married Margaret Fitzgerald on October 31, 1942 in the Rectory at St. Marys Church in Utica. He retired from the Rock Island Railroad as a switchman. Clarence served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Marys Church in Utica and a lifetime member of the Peru VFW.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Peru; two sons, William (Judy) Chapman of Peru and Paul (Margie) Chapman of Blackduck, MN; 7 grandchildren, Laurie Michelini, Bob Chapman, Maureen Spelich, Colleen Schmidt, Bill Chapman, Hollie Franklin, and Drew Chapman; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenny (Shirley) Gielow of Grand Ridge.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dick, Bob, Roy Chapman; and two sisters, Mary Jane Chapman in infancy and Bette Urbanski.
