Clarence “Sugar” Burton, 84, Markleville, passed away March 22, 2011, at The Woodlands Nursing Home-Muncie, Indiana after an extended illness.

He was born March 3, 1927, in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Madison County for most of his life. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Anaconda and Woods Wire. He was a member of the Florida Station Church of God in Anderson. Sugar was an avid bowler, and golfer and played and umpired softball. He is survived by his children, Michael L. Burton & wife Crystal of Anderson, Bruce J. Burton & wife Nancy of Kokomo, and David C. Burton & wife Tina of Pendleton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Ainsley Jo Harris.

He was preceded in death by his wife whom he married in 1947, Barbara Rich Burton who passed on October 14, 1992; parents, Robert H. & Minnie Banta Burton; and siblings, Albert C. Burton, Alta May Burton, Ellen Louise Burton, and Rosamond Rosella Burton.
