Clarence R. Lanham, 92, of Fortville, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 29, 1923 in Rush County, Indiana to the late Clarence R. and Leona (Cross) Lanham. Clarence was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, past master of the Fortville F&AM Lodge No. 207, member of the Fortville Order of the Eastern Star No. 149, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine, Disabled American Veterans, Fortville VFW Post #6904 and Fortville Christian Church.
He retired in 1993 as assistant sales manager of the Stottlemyer Lumber Company and had previously worked at Ward Lumber Co. and Greenfield Lumber & Supply. Clarence is survived by children: Judy A. Kitley of Fortville; Clarence “Rick” (Vera) Lanham, III of Madison; Mark W. Lanham of Fortville; and Tracy J. Clift of Fortville; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Virginia P. McEntee and Richard E. Lanham. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; daughter Terri L. Salinas; brother Earl Lanham; and sister Evelyn “Sissy” Ellison.
