Mr. Clarence J. “CJ” Williams, Jr., of Newnan, GA. passed away peacefully Monday, May 02, 2011 at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institue, Warm Springs, GA. He was born in Riverview, Chambers Co., AL. (Valley, AL.) to Clarence J. Williams, Sr. and Loo Ceile Yeargan Williams. He had been a resident of Newnan since 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Loo Ceile Williams; his brother George Y. Williams of Gadsden, AL., and his youngest son Terrance W. Williams of Newnan, GA. He is survived by his wife Linda G. Williams of Newnan, GA; his sister Beverly Leak of Alaska; his sons Clarence J. Williams III (Jack) of Pensacola, FL., and Timothy C. Williams of Newnan, GA.; daughters Robin McGuffey, and Leigh Ann Jones, of Newnan, GA.; and at the present date, by 11 cherished Grandchildren, and 13 beloved Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Williams was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newnan, GA. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a Rosicrucian, a member of the Elk’s Lodge, the American Legion, a U.S. Navy Armed Guard Veteran of World War II, part of the “Greatest Generation”, having served in the U. S. Merchant Marines. He was a Member of the University of Alabama Alumini Association, and an avid supporter of all things relating to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Mr. Williams followed his Father, Grandfather and Uncle by going into the insurance business in 1953. He worked his way up with Life and Casualty Insurance of Nashville, TN., until opening the Newnan Office of Williams Insurance Agency in 1963. He retired in 2009, but never really left the business, which is still going strong.
