He is preceded in death by parents Clarence and Retha Bell Taylor and Bill and Merlene Kuykendall and Coach Douglas P. Rudolf. He lost one sister, Billie Michele Kuykendall and 2 twin bothers Mickey and Larry Taylor.
Ed is survived by his best friend, Francene Renee Taylor. They were married 44 years.
Sisters include Collette (and Lino) Barragan of Fort Stockton Texas and Annie Taylor Brooks of Hanford, California. Brothers are Terry and Robert (Pam) Taylor of Visalia California, Cory Kuykendall, Nacho Onsurez, Donovan Lucas, and Fred Chastain, all from California.
Ed’s children are Sean and Jill Taylor with Liam and Charlie Michele, of Powell Wyoming and The Kile Taylor’s of Chico California. Running children include, Steve Zachary, Edgar Fuentes, Sebastian Rodriguez, Nathan Soriano, and Teddi Chao, Coach’s daughters are Ashley Velasquez, Kimberely Moshier, and Michelle Bolt.
Coach Ed had a passion for helping children succeed and mentored hundreds of kids in running at Mt. Whitney High School and beyond, for over 30 years. He was indeed a “Fine Pioneer”.
Ed was proudest when his own children and grandchildren succeeded. Papa was their biggest fan.
Ed was so grateful and thankful have had his son Sean, faithfully by his side, these last 4 years.
Ed was a stand out distance runner. He was invited to train at the Olympic Training Facility as a young adult. He went to Tulare Union High School, where he was a proud Redskin. He still holds records there, and at the College of the Sequoias where he was coached by the Legendary Joe Barba.
Eddie loved the Lord and tried to be the best role model possible, modelling integrity, sportsmanship, and how to be a team player.
