Clarence E. “Gene” Stewart, 71, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 5:01 p.m. in Union Hospital.
He was born August 15, 1940 in Terre Haute to Roy Everett Stewart and Mildred McCall Stewart.
Gene worked at J.I. Case for 21 years and retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomington, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 104 and the United Auto Workers. He enjoyed reading and working in his yard. He had a passion for NASCAR and especially Jeff Gordon. He loved the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard “Dick” Stewart and Roy Stewart, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Huddleson Stewart, whom he married September 1, 1976; sons, Kevin Stewart and his wife, Christina of Valparaiso, Indiana and Keith Stewart and his wife, Pat of Bridgeman, MO; two daughters, Robin Albrecht of Terre Haute and Kathy Stewart of Brazil, Indiana. He is also survived by one brother, Terry Stewart and his wife, Susan of Wabash, Indiana; sister in law, Sherry Stewart; brothers in law, Mike Huddleson and his wife Helen and Steve Huddleson and his wife Tina. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chelsea Kennedy, Cayla McGregor, Logan Stewart, Lance Stewart, Joshua Stewart, Cory Stewart, Robert Albrecht, Nicole Albrecht, Coagan Stewart, Megan Pittsenbarger and Bradley Neese; and step grandchildren Katie, Mark, Christine, Ray, Suzan, April and Robert.
He is also survived by his dog and companion, Jake; and several nieces and nephews.
