Clarence died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Norfolk.

Clarence was born August 4, 1919 in Scott County, KS, to Benjamin and Lydia (Unruh) Brueggeman. He attended school in Scott City, Kansas. Clarence worked as a mechanic eventually moving to Valentine, Nebraska.

Clarence served in the United States Army from September 9, 1941 to June 30, 1945, serving in the Pacific and the Philippines. On April 30, 1945 Clarence married Fern Hellweg in Valentine. They made their home there until 1947, when they moved to Norfolk. Clarence worked 30 years at Petring Farm Supply, first as a mechanic and then in sales. When Petring Farm Supply closed Clarence drove the Norfolk to Omaha bus route for Arrow Stage Lines for 15 years.

Clarence learned to fly from Andy Risser in Norfolk and built and flew 2 of his own experimental aircraft.

Clarence is survived by his children daughter Bonnie (Perry) Leimer of Grant, NE, son Bob Brueggeman of Norfolk, daughter Karen (Rueben, “JR”) Leimer of Clarksville, TN, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother Homer Brueggeman of Boise, ID, 2 sisters, Ann Oswald of Fridley, MN and Bernice Tate of Seattle, WA.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on April 8, 2009, 2 grandchildren Angela and Michael Leimer, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
