Clare L. Mallo, age 84, of Cassopolis, Michigan died peacefully Friday, December 9, 2016, in the comfort of his family’s presence in Lakeland Health Center in Niles.
He was born September 8, 1932, in Constantine, Michigan, the only son and middle child of Lee and Gladys (Kulp) Mallo. His parents preceded him in death.
He married Patricia Joan Hartsell on August 6, 1954, in Penn Township after a whirlwind romance of three months. She survives. Clare was a wonderful guy. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Fruitbelt Electric and then went to work for GTE, retiring twenty years ago. Clare volunteered for fifteen years at Sam Adams Middle School helping teach children how to read. Clare served as the Council President of the Village of Cassopolis. He was passionate about feeding the birds and squirrels.
Clare will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-two years, Patricia (Hartsell) Mallo of Cassopolis; one daughter, Keli Green of Cassopolis; two sons, Kevin (Buffy) Mallo of Three Rivers, Brent (Victoria) Mallo of Loudon, Tennessee; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathleen (Howard) Scott of Valparaiso, Indiana and Bonnie Scott of Elkhart.
