Clara Mae Hood, 91, of Three Oaks, Michigan left her earthly home on September 10, 2009 in the presence of her family. Mae was born June 3, 1918 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to John and Christine (Eldridge) Leamon. She married William B. “Bert” Hood on September 13, 1939 in Edmonton, Kentucky. They moved North in 1953 and made their home in Rolling Prairie, Indiana and later in Three Oaks.

Mae was a seamstress at the Gerber Babywear Company before her retirement. She enjoyed talking to family and helping to bind the family ties. She was best known as Aunt Mae to her loving extended family. She was a babysitter for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping, gardening, and she created beautiful quilts. Over the years she maintained close friendships and between her family and friends, she obtained many knick knacks and had a story to share about each of them.

Mae is survived by her sister, Ruey (Joe) Belcher of Danville, Kentucky; her sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Hood, Lou Hood, and Dean Hood; and her numerous nieces and nephews, including her loving niece and caregiver, Jodie Haughey and children J.D., Rylee and Teya.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert on March 20, 1987; sisters, Frankie Kwast, Edna Ferguson, Mary Long and Maudie Jackson, and her brothers, Henry, Charlie and Evans Leamon and John Lemons.
