She transitioned peacefully Saturday, December 10, 2016, into the presence and her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

She was born July 1, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Hattie (Jackson) Graham-Barron.

She married Mark Sturges in 1946 who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, stepfather Robert Barron, also called “Daddy Robert” or “Daddy Ro-Ro”.

Clara loved the Lord with all her heart, with all her soul, with all her strength, and with all her mind and her neighbor as herself (Luke 10:27). She loved having the Bible read to her. She was never happier than when someone prayed for her and, in turn, she would pray for them. Clara loved her family and was very protective of them. She had a joyous spirit, loved kidding around, with a keen sense of humor. Clara’s family remembers that she had a giving spirit, and was always giving someone something except her Pepsi Cola. She was unmatched in making apple pie, biscuits, and her infamous butter rolls. “Clara Bell” – as some of her family called her – will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing and continue her legacy three daughters, Sharon (Noel) Conley, Marilyn Flynn, and Lynette (Elmer) Joseph, Jr., all of Edwardsburg, Michigan; one son, Chekosi Abasi “Nack” Baruti of Edwardsburg, Michigan; seven wonderful grandchildren, LaRonda Holman of Edwardsburg, Shirell (Willie) Bray of Niles, Michigan Jamil (Angela) Conley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lenair (Denail) Sparks of Nashville, Tennessee, Roland Flynn, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Latrice M. Sturges of Houston, Texas, Johnny J. Bryant of South Bend, Indiana; thirteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
