Mrs. Clara Jean Barber, 85, of Lanett passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Barber was born on August 22, 1930 in Morrison’s Crossroads, Alabama, the daughter of the late John W. Lipham and Berta Shaddix Lipham. She was born in Randolph County, AL, and was a lifelong resident of Randolph and Chambers Counties, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, and two brothers, Velpo Lipham of Valley, and Elmo Lipham of Lincoln, NE.
Mrs. Barber was a loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Her loving and caring spirit was felt by all whose path she crossed. In addition to her own family, she was considered to be a mother to many. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving Mrs. Barber are her loving husband and best friend of sixty five years, Charles A. Barber of Lanett, three sons, John A. (Lamar) Barber of Suches, GA, James “Jim” (Diana) Barber of Suwanee, GA, and Jerry (Luanne), Lanett AL; five grandchildren, Nekol (Richard) Barber-Schmidt of Marietta, GA; Andrew (Brittany) Barber, Valley, AL; Lindsey (Brandon) Mitchell of LaGrange, GA ; Steven Barber and Daniel Barber both of Suwanee, GA; three great grandchildren, Austin Barber, Cordelia Schmidt and Ava Barber.
Mrs. Barber was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lanett, AL. She was a former employee of Georgia-Alabama Supply Company in West Point, GA with over 42 years of service to the company.
